Russia’s CPI at 0.5% in Apr, 7.9% Jan–Apr, annual CPI at 16.4%
MOSCOW, May 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s consumer price inflation index (CPI) amounted to 0.5% in April and reached 7.9% since January 1, while annual inflation fell to 16.4% from 16.9% in March, the Federal State Statistic Service said in a statement Thursday.
In 2014, consumer price inflation amounted to 0.9% in April and 3.2% in January–April; while annual inflation stood at 7.3%.
The growth in food prices slowed down to 0.3% in April from 1.6% in March, while annual growth slowed down to 21.9% from 23.0%.
Prices for frozen fish products increased 1.5–1.7%, while tinned fish prices rose 2.7%.
Tea, coffee, jam and olive oil prices rose 3–4%, while prices for cereals, lamb meat and some tinned products increased 1.3–2.6%. Cucumbers and bananas became 18% and 13% cheaper, garlic and orange prices went down 5.9%, prices of potato and grape decreased 2.1% and 4.6%, while carrot pries grew 4.2% and prices for onions, dry fruit and nuts went up 2.4–2.9%.
Poultry and millet became 1% and 0.5% cheaper, respectively.
The Economic Development Ministry forecasts Russia’s annual inflation at 12.2% in 2015.
